BLEACHERS PAVILION
Public mixed-use, 2020
Bleachers Pavilion is a temporary public space located in the Parque Rufino Tamayo in San Pedro Garza García, México. Its main purpose is to provide an open gathering space for the park users where they can have picnics, read books, listen to music, or just shelter from the usual heat in the city.
The design was created as a temporary minimally invasive installation built with a metal tubing structure and polycarbonate panels as the skin. The skins features openings along the side walls in order to provide natural ventilation, and openings along the central axis to provide natural light while keeping the outer ring shaded and covered from rain and the elements.
LUMOS PERMEABILIS
Inspired by the song "Goodmorning" by Bleachers, the pavilion represents the feeling of numbness after waking up, before becoming fully aware of your surroundings while you are still inside your head. Allowing light to permeate into the pavilion through a screen-like skin sets the user in the inbetween.
